Hi All,
Work is gr8... or should i say was gr8.. Frankly until 3 weeks back it was really good as that was the time that I was identifyin functional scenarios for test cases. But now the system testing is postponed so i am relatively vetti , but i have clients all around all the time so it becomes a lil difficult to check mails and reply..
Things that we have to, have to, have to learn from these Americans here:
1. Details - these people are ppl of details here. They are thorough in what ever they do and believe me thats what makes life simple and easier here. In any query they make no assumptions, everything needs to be explained . Although there are our ppl here who make fun of them and call this aspect of theirs to be "dumb" , sad to say , those guys are missing the point ... it is not a joke to be so perfect in what ever is done and not to miss out those few lil things that make what is called perfection.
2. This is corollary of the previous one . They follow the policy "Keep things simple". Things are simple here becoz of the fact that ppl here dont miss out on details and never take anything for granted. u talk about shopping , they have defined places and there is a defined process in place to do it. u talk about anything, usually there is a defined process here and the best thing is that it is common across all states in USA.
3. Things are organized and Process is intact jus becoz of the fact that these ppl here are intolerant towards problems.. they are not the kind whocan sit back and say ho " voila, looks like there is a problem , some one has to solve it". they are the kinds who would take ownership andresponsibilities.
4. These ppl know the true meaning of freedom. If one comes here, one would learn that freedom is not about freaking out , partying, dating, andjus having fun as the media hypes it back at home, but its a matter of responsibility and ownership.
4. take it easy ... You would find that a lot of meetings that happen here are filled with picking at each other, making ppl laugh, cracking jokes..but still getting the job done.. Almost all of them that i met have a good amount of sense of humour tucked in them waiting to ooze out. Atleast my project manager is lady loaded with sense of humour... most of the meetings are a pleasure here.. there are serious meetings too .. but then still theywould have a joke or two cracked in between. They truly follow the principle "No matter how busy life is there is always time for a cup ofbeer" in this case i would read cup of beer as sense of humour too.. :)
A lot of what i had written above may not be new to many of u but i found them very new and exciting , so thot i should share it with u all.
I work here only with the clients and not with any of the tcsers. But i think i am blessed becoz i have one of the most compassionate andunderstanding bosses here. She is exactly able to relate to how it would feel to be sooooo away from home , to be in a strange country with strange situations around.. Some of them do tell me that managers are like that..they jus talk and get the job done.. but never mind, sometimes it worth giving into and getting cheated instead of tryin to act smart..
Back at office one of my frnds left a card for me in my chair before i came in , so the clients knew about it and u know what they gave me a card and a gift card!!!!!! and this is the most touching and moving thing and takes the cake, coz one of the clients prepared some cup cakes for my b'day and brought it the next day!!!!!! wasnt that gr8 guys!!! i was really really touched..
okie i have a lot to tell u about the place where i stay , i mean the house and the environment and a lot lot to tell about the very very few places that i have been to ... jus two infact... but the mail would become lengthier... ooops , i jus wish it doesnt bounce due to the size of it!!!! ;))
